How does the audio interview work?

It couldn’t be simpler. Each question appears on the screen and you record your answer. We only record the audio part of your answers so don’t worry about what you’re wearing or how you look – it’s not a video interview. You can also listen back to your answers and re-record them if you think of something else you’d like to say before submitting anything to us.

Please try to complete the audio interview within five days of receiving your email. The sooner you complete the interview, the faster we can process your application.

What do I need to do beforehand?

The interview needs to be completed in one go and it should take about 20 minutes in total to complete, so please make sure you have good internet connection, a quiet space and your computer, tablet, or smartphone is charged and ready to go.

Whatever device you use, you’ll need a working microphone that allows us to clearly hear your answers to the questions. It could be a good idea to test your microphone quality beforehand by making an audio recording of your own or sending a voice note to a friend and then listening to it back.

If you’re using a laptop or computer:

You can use the browsers Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari to complete the interview.

If you’re using an iPad or iPhone:

Please only use Safari as your browser as the interview might not work properly for you otherwise.

Please don’t use the following browsers regardless of what device you’re using

Internet Explorer, Opera, or any other lesser-known browser you may have intalled. Our audio interview platform might not be compatible with these browsers and it could mean your interview doesn’t record properly.

After you’ve had your interview, we’ll aim to get back to you with the results within five days.

Important Reminder

If you haven’t already done so, please start our References and Vetting process as soon as possible. You need to request a letter from HMRC that shows your 5-year employment history. This can take around 40 days to arrive and only you can request it. To this, call HMRC on 0300 200 3300, or visit the HMRC website https://www.gov.uk/get-proof-employment-history to download and complete the application form and send it to HMRC my post.

If you’ve already received your letter, please complete your online Referencing and Vetting form.
